CHALMETTE, La. (WVUE) - A body found in the backyard of a Chalmette home early Saturday (Sept. 16) has neighbors asking questions about what the man was doing in the area.

As the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s help to identify and locate a woman seen in a security camera image, neighbors say they have no idea who she is.

The agency has not classified the death as a homicide, named the victim, nor called the woman a crime suspect. A press release from Sheriff James Pohlmann’s office said only that the woman “may have information regarding an incident involving an adult male who was found deceased in Chalmette this morning.”

“I’ve been living here for 20 years, and I’ve never seen those two at all,” said neighbor Adam Barlow, looking at the image the SBSO released.

The dead man was found shortly before 8 a.m. in the back yard of a home in the 3000 block of Lloyds Avenue, the agency said.

Barlow said there were at least eight deputy cars and a fire engine responding to the scene.

“They got plenty of kids around here. I’m surprised you don’t see any today,” Barlow said. “But they have plenty of kids and they are always up and down the street.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office at (504) 271-2501 or (504) 271-8477, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
