Fire contained at Port of Lake Charles
Lake Charles, LA (KPLC) - Black smoke could be seen across the sky Thursday afternoon after a fire broke out at the Port of Lake Charles.
The fire was worked by the Lake Charles Fire Department at the city docks near Contraband Bayou, port officials said.
The fire started at city docks in an area leased to Ace Marine, according to Port Director Ricky Self.
There are no reported injuries, Self said.
The fire was reported at 3 p.m.
LCFD, along with LCPD, CPSO and Port Police arrived on scene quickly, and the fire is now contained, Self said. It took firefighters around three hours to fully extinguish it.
Self said there were no chemicals released in the fire and no danger to the public.
